Angeled Frames

I have a new quilt design in my mind  - all solids - which I had to order fabric for. I got a good deal (from Pink Chalk Fabrics - they are having a liquidation sale) but am having to wait a little while for it to arrive. So while I am waiting I decided to make another fast quilt using what's in my stash. I am making a quilt based on Round 15 at The Old Red Barn Co quilt along on Flicker. This one is called Angled Frames. The tutorial was by my friend Dolores at DeeRoo Designs. There's a link in her sidebar if you're interested. She made a bunch of these and it's fun to see them all! This quilt is very different from what I usually do.  I had to resist not adding white in between the rounds! It is basically a giant (rectangular) log cabin block. I think the idea is to be random about it and let the strips fall where they may, but I exerted control over the colors.
Here's what I have so far.

I am planning to add about two more rounds then it will be ready for quilting.  I think I have enough batting left and maybe another sheet I can use for a back. Feels good to use what's in my stash!

Finishing up a little hand sewing on a small project tonight.

When the fabric arrives for my solid quilt I plan to shop for thread, batting and backing - everything! So that's even more incentive to use what I have for these quick quilts.

What are you working on this week?

  1. Hi Laney! This looks beautiful and I love the colours! My challenge would also be not to use white ... I think I need to make this. x teje
